Title: How do Career Interventions Impact the Educational Choices of Eighth Grade Students?
Date: 2003
Center for School Counseling Outcome Research
Summarizes the results of a study to see how career intervention for eighth grade students affects their high school course choices. Researchers found that a high level of intervention had a significant positive effect on the students' ability to make informed choices, and that even a modest intervention (giving the students reading material about postsecondary and career options) had a strong positive effect on student choices. They caution, however, that the small size of the sample and the specialized nature of the school these students attend may mean the results are not transferable.
