Title: 2005 Skills Gap Report
Date: 2006
Publisher:
National Association of Manufacturers
Description:
A National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) employer survey reveals a serious shortage of qualified employees in manufacturing—including both line employees and upper level scientists and managers—that is a serious toll on U.S. competitiveness. NAM recommends a national strategy that includes more emphasis on science, math and technology-related subjects in school, including career education in state standards, more investment in training for current employees, and business-government partnerships to improve the community college system.
