Delaware Career Resource Network (DCRN)

Program Goals and Emphasis

The primary goal of the Delaware Career Resource Network (DCRN) is to provide classroom-based career development curricula, e.g. the Delaware Career Compass and Teacher’s Guide. Other goals include: 1) increase DCRN visibility within the state so that resources are used by greater numbers; 2) develop community partnerships to reach more and possibly “missed? populations; 3) develop solid communication/feedback methods between users and DCRN to provide continuous improvement of products and delivery services; and 4) develop a resource library for parents.

State Economic Profile

Economic and Environmental Profile

The major industries in the state of Delaware are chemical and automotive. Manufacturing, followed by financial services, provides the most income. Over 50% of companies on the New York Stock Exchange are incorporated in Delaware. This is because there is no Delaware corporate income tax for corporations that are formed in Delaware, as long as they do not do business there. Professional and business services provide the largest employment.

The January 2006 unemployment rate was 3.9%, as compared to 3.9% in April 2005.
