Colorado Career Network

Program Goals and Emphasis

The primary goal of the Colorado Career Network is to determine how to make potential customers aware of the resources available to assist them in accomplishing the vocational goals laid out in the No Child Left Behind Act.
State Economic Profile

Economic and Environmental Profile

Major industries in Colorado include agriculture, tourism (especially skiing), health care, mining, oil, finance and manufacturing. Aerospace, electronics and telecommunications have been strong. Employment gains were led by leisure and hospitality, professional and business services, and construction. Government is the largest sector, followed by professional and business services and leisure and hospitality.

The January 2006 unemployment rate was 4.7%, as compared to 5.2% in April 2005.

State Career Resource Activities

Highlighted Activities

• Colorado has established a parents career Web site to orient parents or guardians to the career counseling process, provide them with some tools and encourage them to take advantage of the resources available to the local community.

• The state ACRN activities are housed within the community college system governing board, assisting the design of products that promote smooth transitions and the recruitment of secondary students into the community college system.
