The mission of the Wyoming Career Resource Network (WYCRN) is to provide relevant and timely career development resources to all citizens of Wyoming, young and old, who need assistance to uncover the “perfect occupation. |
|
Major industries include farming (cattle, sheep), mining (coal, uranium), oil, natural gas and tourism. Government, retail trade and leisure and hospitality have the largest employment figures.
The January 2006 unemployment rate was 3.1%, as compared to 3.5% in April 2005. |

• WyCRN has developed a Web-based portfolio system, Book Set, which allows students to record all high school and non-high school experiences. Students can record their courses from a drop-down list, and the program will connect those courses to the state standards, which in turn connect to individual occupations from the O*Net site. Students explore the careers that match their coursework and begin to see what the postsecondary educational requirements will be.
• WyCRN has supported and provided career development resources to the Wyoming TRIO programs, including the Educational Talent Search, Math/Science Initiative Project, Upward Bound, Educational Opportunity Center, McNair Scholars Project, and Student Support Services. The TRIO projects continue to utilize our CIDS resources as well as implementing the portfolio system.
